CR 490DS Press Release

A new and exciting partnership with Sweden Yachts Group and CR Yachts.

The team at BRYD is currently working with the group’s design team to finalise the All-New CR 490 DS. This new flagship from CR Yachts promises to offer everything you would expect from a performance deck saloon and much more.

The new design has been developed utilising cutting-edge simulation and design toolsets to achieve a highly refined hull, keel, and rudder package – optimised to achieve superior performance and the excellent sea-keeping characteristics demanded of a serious bluewater cruiser. This rigorous approach is echoed throughout the design and build, with the CR490DS being engineered to achieve highly robust ocean-capable structures while simultaneously ensuring a yacht at the lower end of DLR for her class.

BRYD consists of a team of young, dynamic, progressive, and highly qualified naval architects, engineers, and designers with extensive sailing backgrounds headed by the company’s director Ben Rogerson.

“We are very proud to be working with Mattias and Sweden Yachts Group in the development of the new CR490DS. CR Yachts have a long-standing history of producing exceptionally crafted bluewater yachts with uncompromised sailing performance. This ethos aligns fully with our own as a high-end yacht design firm and it is clear our collaboration of experience and skills has resulted in a very exciting new design.”

All yacht hulls and interiors will continue to be handcrafted in Sweden at the yard on the historic boatbuilding island of Orust. Sails, stainless-steel fittings, covers, and other products are sourced from specially selected local companies. This ensures the highest quality and adaptability to a customer’s bespoke wishes when it comes to layout, materials, and other equipment.

Managing director Mattias Rutgersson who comes from a long line of boatbuilders with 24 years in the industry himself confirms…

"This collaboration is positive for the development and future of the group, keeping us moving forwards and ensuring the continued production of world-class sailing yachts."
