Structures are developed and fully 3D modelled including core offsets and laminate thicknesses in parallel with the production detailing, interior development, and systems development phases. Design development and iterations between these areas enables a coherent design output ensuring high confidence in the production phases.
Different 3D modelling tools include:
– AutoCAD
– Parametric Modelling PLM software
– Siemens NX – and 3D connexion
NX has a well-established successful reputation, being used by F1 teams, the Americas Cup and Aerospace. It allows us to deliver accurate designs whilst being highly adaptable and efficient in its use. Using Siemens NX Parametric surfacing in our hull design process, we are able to develop a range of hull variants and undertake performance assessments across variants with initial empirical resistance calculations.
The system component routing is also fully developed in 3D, including all fitting and fixtures between all componentry, inlet, and hull skin fittings. This process developed in parallel with the structural engineering, interior development and naval architecture providing confidence in advance of the construction process.
